Help
Find help with choosing the correct requirements and fixing common problems.
Troubleshooting
- The ores aren't glowing:
- If you are using shaders, look for a setting named Floodfill and disable it.
- If you are using a version of Sodium below 0.6, install Indium to add support for the Fabric Rendering API.
- Sodium 0.6 and newer include this support natively, so Indium is not needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the mod and resource pack versions?
The mod only loads assets for the mods you have installed, which greatly reduces loading times compared to the resource pack version. It also includes an in-game config for adjusting emissive brightness and disabling individual ores, and does not require a separate emissive texture mod.
Is the mod compatible with resource packs that change ore textures?
The mod's resources take priority, so texture changes from other resource packs are ignored for ores supported by GEO. This prevents texture mismatching issues.
Does the mod affect performance?
FPS impact should be negligible in normal gameplay. GEO is designed to avoid runtime scanning, so most of the work happens during loading and resource reloads, and that side has been heavily optimized too.
The only time FPS impact may become noticeable is if a huge number of supported emissive ore blocks are visible at once, because those blocks have extra emissive overlay rendering. This is similar to many other Minecraft rendering cases, such as having lots of transparent blocks, particles, or entities on screen.

Instructions
There are currently four Minecraft modloaders: NeoForge, Forge, Fabric, and Quilt. You need different requirements depending on the modloader and Minecraft version you use. Every valid combination is listed in the Requirements tab.
Installing for a modpack
- Open the Requirements tab, select Filter by Modloader / Version, and choose the modloader and Minecraft version used by the modpack.
- Check the available options and see whether the modpack already includes one of them.
- If it does, install Glowing Emissive Ores and test the modpack.
- If it doesn't, choose one of the available options, install the mods shown for it, then test the modpack.
- If an option does not work with the modpack, check the troubleshooting section below for tips.
Troubleshooting
- The resource pack fails to load and ModernFix is installed: Open the
modernfix-mixins.propertiesconfig file and remove the linemixin.perf.dynamic_resources=true. - The modpack crashes during startup: Try launching it at least three times, as large modpacks can sometimes crash randomly while starting.
- The ores are not glowing, or the modpack continues to crash: Try each available option from the Requirements list until you find one that works with the modpack. If Sinytra Connector is installed, only Fabric options such as Continuity will work.
- The ores only glow at certain times or distances while using shaders: Look for a shader setting named Floodfill and disable it. Alternatively, use a different emissive ores resource pack that supports LabPBR.
- The ores are flickering: Older versions of Embeddium, Rubidium, and Sodium cause this issue. MoreMcMeta has a workaround, so use that requirements option when newer versions of these mods are unavailable.
